LITE registration

Lite registration allows users to interact with your site without having a dedicated account. Here a few use cases for lite registration:

  • Subscribing to a mailing-list

  • Entering a prize competition

  • Registering in-store

Endpoint

We have a dedicated lite-registration endpoint for lite registration here at ReachFive. The endpoint is used to push information about the user, which triggers either the creation or update of the user profile.

A user profile submitted through lite registration (a lite profile) is identified in one of the following ways:

  • e-mail

  • mobile number

  • external ID

This consolidates with any existing account based on that identifier. The account unification can occur either at submission of the lite profile, if the account already exists, or later on when the user creates their account or adds the specified e-mail address or phone number (if applicable) to their account.

Data lite profiles has lower priority than data from any other source (social login, local profile, etc.)
Protecting accounts

When unifying the lite profile with an account, data from the lite profile is not displayed as long as the identifier used on the lite profile is unverified (through a confirmation e-mail or SMS). This prevents attackers from stealing the personal information in the lite profile by creating an account with the same identifier.
